This paper attempts to make a comparative presentation of linguistic education in the last three curricula (applied in Greek schools) -from 1989, from 1999 as well as the latest, applied as a pilot project during the 2011-2012 academic year- by presenting the views that have prevailed in every decade regarding the linguistic education of children in preschool age, while also providing information regarding the specific characteristics of each curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to the 2011 curriculum which is based on the principles of critical literacy and is connected with multiliteracies, aiming to foster both the linguistic and the communicative competences, as well as to critically address the various forms of literacy.
