Dr. Christos Orovas graduated from the Department of Informatics, Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1993 and received the Ph.D degree in Computer Science from the University of York, UK, in 2000, where as a member of the Advanced Computer Architectures Group, he did research on cellular associative neural networks for pattern recognition founded by the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece.
From 1998 to 2000 and again in 2002, he was with the Neural Networks Laboratory, University of Milan, where he cooperated in EC funded research integrating PAC learning methods with unsupervised neural nets applied in emotion recognition and adaptive human artefacts. He has tought Informatics in Secondary Education in Greece as permanent staff from 2002 to 2017 and he was the Technical Manager of the Centre for Informatics and New Technologies of Florina from 2012 to 2016. At the same time he was also a Scientific Assistant at the TEI of West Macedonia (now University of Western Macedonia) since 2002 and currently he is a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff in the Department of Products and Systems Design Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia since 2017.
He speaks Greek, English and Italian and he has succesfully followed the Annual Pedagogical Training Program of the School of Pedagogical and Technological Education of Greece in 2014. He also holds an M.Sc degree in Bioinformatics and Neuroinformatics from the Hellenic Open University (2023).
His main research interests include computational intelligence, neural computing, neuroinformatics, intelligent agents, human computer interaction and applications of artificial intelligence in big data analysis.
