2. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning Outcomes

The course Studio 2 – Drawing - Color introduces the students to the representation of a subject with a free hand, ie without the help of geometric instruments, capturing real objects in correct proportion and scale, following the rules of linear perspective. The course is based on the investigation of the students visual perception through the creative observation, analysis and synthesis of the relationships of the space that surrounds us.

The objective of the course is to train the student to see, to observe and not just to look. To be able to finally realize three-dimensional forms through tone, light, texture and shadow, and finally to become familiar with colour techniques and to acquire design skills.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

1. Use a variety of drawing media to communicate two- dimensionally.
2. Compose elements on a two-dimensional plane to produce various effects.
3. Create the illusion of light, shadow, tone, and texture on a two-dimensional plane.
4. Use basic one-point and two-point perspective to produce the illusion of three dimensions on a two-dimensional surface.
5. Produce drawings which accurately represent still life and figurative subjects.

General Skills

• Search, analysis and synthesis of data and information, using the necessary technologies
• Adaptation to new situations
• Decision making
• Autonomous work
• Teamwork

3. COURSE CONTENTS

This course will introduce students to basic drawing, perspective, and sketching techniques using various media, to depict a variety of subjects.

The course “STUDIO 2_ DRAWING -COLOR” organized in two sections:
A. Drawing
B. color

Section A
1. Introduction to drawing and its principles of organization.
2. Description of media used in drawing and their use
3. Line, shape and volume
4. Introduction to perspective - basic principles
5. Depiction of basic three-dimensional geometric forms
6. Light, shadow, tone, and texture
7. Use of basic elements and principles of composition
8. Draw from the imagination

Section B
9. Introduction to colour and its principles
10. Color wheel theory
11. Color and texture

Teaching is developed at two levels, theoretical and practical. There are a number of theoretical lectures and preparation of laboratory exercises applying the respective topics.
