Christos Hitiris
I'm Computer Engineer MSc
About
I am Christos Hitiris (Χρήστος Χυτήρης, also written Chytiris), a technology enthusiast with a passion for continuous learning. Since July 2025 I serve as Laboratory Teaching Staff (ETEP) at the Department of Informatics, and I am also a Ph.D. Candidate at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia, focusing on "Applying Machine Learning Methods for the Massive Internet of Things."
My research interests extend to areas such as Web Programming, Augmented Reality (AR), and Open Technologies.
My goal is to utilize technology to inspire young people and create smart solutions that benefit society.
In my free time, I enjoy music, experimenting with gadgets, and a little bit of gaming (but let’s keep that between us 😄). Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss ideas or collaborate on an exciting project!
Interests
My technological interests are quite diverse, to be honest, and they tend to evolve depending on my professional situation, my activities within the IEEE Student Branch, and circumstances in general. However, I would broadly describe them as follows:
Open Technologies
I have hands-on experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and various Linux distros, and I am deeply interested in anything related to Open Source projects.
Augmented Reality
Building on my past experience with AR projects, I am an active member of the Miranet Lab at the University of Western Macedonia, where I work on AR, VR, and XR applications, as well as networks and Internet of Things technologies
Web Technologies
Since a young age, I have been fascinated by the internet, creating forums, blogs, and websites using various technologies available at the time. Later, I delved into CMS platforms like Joomla, Drupal, and WordPress. In recent years, through various projects, I have focused more extensively on modern web technologies such as HTML/CSS, React, Next.js, Vue.js, and many others.
Smart Education
Driven by a desire to contribute to the educational community both on my home island of Samos and in Kastoria, I participated in various initiatives focusing on topics such as Educational Robotics with Lego or Arduino, Open Source Technologies, and STEAM Education. My goal was to inspire students and educators to explore education beyond traditional methods.
